The Role of Media in Intercultural Dialogue Between Europe and Ukraine. Workshop

On June 18, 2026, the National University of Ostroh Academy hosted the workshop “Media and Culture: EU’s and Ukrainian Experience.” It was led by Roman Shulyk, Associate Professor at the Department of Journalism and PR Management.

The event brought together faculty members and students of Ostroh Academy, as well as representatives of regional media. During the workshop, scholars, public administration representatives, and journalists learned about the basic principles of intercultural communication in Europe and the relationship between media and culture in modern societies.

The event presented key principles for building a European space of dialogue between different countries, cultures, and regions. Participants also learned about the main areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union in the field of media and the development of intercultural communication.  Special attention was given to the current agenda in European Studies and the activities of Ukraine’s main European partners. Each participant received a roadmap outlining ways to implement teaching practices in their own work. It will help foster a deeper understanding of the European values and principles that regulate the media sphere.

The event was held within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module “European Studies of Intercultural Communication: the EU experience for Ukraine”. Project acronym: EuCultCom. Project number: 101126800. Call: ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH. Topic: ERASMUS-JMO-2023-MODULE.
